HAPPY UMBRELLA DAY

‘Nature looks more beautiful in the rain’.

Throughout human history, people and cultures all over the world have celebrated rain and its life-giving power. All life is dependent on rain, and rain is what keeps our world green and fresh and beautiful. Rain is no less important today than it has been in the past, and now people around the world have Rain Day, a day to celebrate all things wet and wonderful. LIS pre primary celebrated Umbrella Day on 3rd , 4th and 5th August to appreciate rain and the importance of it. Teacher explains how it plays a vital role to all life on Earth. Rainfall represents the main way in which water in the skies comes down to earth, providing drinks for animals and plants, recharging the underground aquifers, and filling our rivers and lakes.

Kids also spend Rain Days learning more about rain Thanks to the Internet, it is easier than it ever has been to get our hands on information and learn more about the world. Kids found out about parts of the world that have the most rain, as well as those parts of the world that barely get any rain at all.

To celebrate the first showers of Monsoon, the pre-primary students of LIS, Sarigam all armed in their raincoats & umbrellas to splash & revel in the rain. The students went out with umbrellas and rain coats to enjoy the playful rainy weather. Teachers made them aware of the things found in this season like corn, frog etc.

To make learning fun and engaging we planned this RAINY THEME ACTIVITIES

· Rainy theme Math Activities- SR KG Kids measured the water level using thermometer.

· Rainy theme Literacy Activities- Rain puddles have an almost magnetic pull for children. Nursery kids enjoyed puddle jumping on letters. And JR KG kids sorted pitter patter raindrops with letters and objects.

· Rainy Theme culinary Activity – Kids prepared Corn Chat and Sprout chat with the help of their teacher and moms.
