Parent Enrichment Program

Being a parent is no less than bliss; however, there can never be a more daunting task than to find a perfect way to parenting. Children learn more from what we are than what we teach. Therefore, it becomes imperative for us as adults to unlearn a few things and learn/acquire many new skills to model the personality we would like our child to be. Quoting Hodding Carter – “Two great things you can give your children: one is roots, the other is wings.”

Parents and Teachers of classes LIS Kindergarten attended a workshop on Parenting in 21st Century at Laxmi International School, Sarigam as part of the Parents’ Enrichment Program. The workshop was facilitated by Ms. Anupama Gour, Tyba in psychology from Mithibai college M.A in counseling psychology and B. Ed in special education from S.N. D. T university Mumbai. Working in field of mental health since 2013.

She spoke about the importance of setting a routine for children and striking the right balance between disciplining a child and giving into his or her emotional needs. A more participative, involved style of parenting will build trusting relationship between the parent, child and the school and will make more secure and mature adults in future. With many questions, doubts and dilemmas being clarified at the workshop, it turned out to be a highly interactive session. Few activities were conducted to make it more engaging for the parents. Ms. Anupama was felicitated by the school Principal, Mrs. Runa Kar with a small token of gratitude. The parents shared an encouraging, positive feedback about the workshop and appreciated the school’s effort in involving the parents in overall child development.

2nd PTM was organized the same day. After the program parents met the teacher check the papers of 1st assessment and discussed on the areas the child and parents need to focus.
