Talk Show

“Behind every young child who believes in himself is a parent who believed first.”
As parents, we do the most difficult job- we have to give our children a good start in life—hence we nurture, protect and guide them to make them independent.
Clearly, it is more or less a job- not a 9 to 5 one but something that goes on forever. So obviously, we have got to be good at it.
“Positive parenting” is a concept, spoken about a lot these days. What do you think it is? The first time I heard that phrase, I went blank. What are we talking about here? I wondered” How is positive parenting defined?
It turns out that I am not the only person to be confused about this. Most folks think it’s just about parenting without spanking. But positive parenting goes so much deeper than that.
As our child grows and develops, there are many things we can do to help our child. The talk show on Positive Parenting navigated around these basic concepts and understands how we can play a better and a healthier role in our child’s development.

Ms Saakshi Patel, a psychologist at Aaramb Aaji Care, Mumbai was the key speaker. Her areas of interest and expertise lie in anxiety disorders, personality disorders, PTSD, child welfare and foster care.
She has done her Post graduation from Bangor University, UK in Clinical and Health Psychology. She also actively participates in extensive volunteer work and campaigns. She also has a post graduate diploma in Special Education and has experience in Play therapy and Music therapy to name a few.
It was really a great session as the sparkle of her view points and motivated words would help the parents to understand their role to be played in a better and healthier way. The session concluded with a question answer round followed by vote of thanks.
