Teacher's Day
Every year September 5, the birth anniversary of Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan is celebrated as Teachers’ Day across the country. Dr Sarvepalli was a well-known scholar, teacher and ardent promoter of education.
During his tenure as a President of India, his students and friends requested him to celebrate his birthday. He replied, “Instead of celebrating my birthday, it would be my proud privilege if September 5 is observed as Teachers’ Day.” Since then, his birthday has been observed as Teachers’ Day. On this special day, students cherish the contribution of teachers in making their life better and shaping their behaviours according to societal prospects.
At LIS teachers and students report to the school, as usual but the scheduled activities and classes are replaced by activities of celebration, thanks and remembrance. Though this year presented many challenges it didn’t deter the students of LIS to show their gratitude to their mentors. The students organised an online show that commenced with a speech of reverence for the educators followed by several games, songs and dance programmes. The show truly expressed their love and gratitude towards their teachers.
